Germs are everywhere. But now germs have met their match. Within the first 15 seconds, Zytrel goes to work killing 99.99% of germs on contact and continues to help kill germs for up to 4 hours, without inhibiting natural flora (your bodies natural good bacteria). Zytrel XP products complements or exceeds the Center for Disease Control (CDC) standards for Clean Hand Hygiene.
According to a recent report from the CDC, if soap and water are not available and alcohol-based products are not allowed, other hand sanitizers that do not contain alcohol may be useful. While the CDC does not recommend any brand of hand sanitizer, Zytrel XP® Sanitizer & Moisturizing Lotion complements and exceeds CDC standards for Clean Hand Hygiene.
Why use ZYTREL XP brand hand sanitizers vs. traditional alcohol-based products?
Traditional alcohol-based hand sanitizers only kill germs on immediate contact--while they are wet. Once they dry, they no longer kill germs. In other words, your protection from a traditional alcohol-based hand sanitizer lasts about 15 seconds, until the alcohol evaporates.
ZYTREL XP kills 99.99% of germs on contact and continues to help kill germs for up to 4 hours. Zytrel XP Sanitizer & Moisturizing Lotion, Hand Sanitizer and Foaming Hand Cleanser (soap) are all safe and can be used repeatedly, as often as you feel it is necessary.
How does Zytrel XP compare in price to traditional alcohol-based sanitizers?
Ounce for ounce, ZYTREL XP is more cost effective than traditional alcohol-based products. That is because Zytrel XP is a very powerful antimicrobial agent. Just about a dime size amount of Zytrel XP lotion or hand sanitizer, or two pumpfuls of Zytrel XP soap (Foaming Hand Cleanser) offer protection long after traditional alcohol-based sanitizers have ceased to be effective.
ZYTREL XP Sanitizer & Moisturizng Lotion actually improves the condition of the skin with repeated use. The ZYTREL XP formula is hypoallergenic with antiseptic benefits and it won’t create the “sting” associated with traditional alcohol-based products.
Traditional alcohol-based sanitizers dry the skin causing it to become red, itchy and sore with repeated use. ZYTREL XP soothes skin, helping protect it from germs for up to 4 hours. Even after 3 washings, the hand sanitizer lotion caused approximately 50% reduction in bacteria and this level of protection was maintained at 6 washings. According to an independent lab test, no other antimicrobial product is capable of providing the degree of long term protection exhibited by ZYTREL XP.
Does ZYTREL XP have any residual efficacy?
Yes, whereas traditional alcohol-based sanitizers stop working immediately after they dry, ZYTREL XP has residual efficacy and will continue to work for up to 4 hours after each application. Of course, that does not mean you should wait 4 hours to reapply it. You can use ZYTREL XP repeatedly, safely and effectively as necessary, throughout the day.
Who created the technology on which Zytrel XP is based?
The technology was developed at Colombia University. One or more of the following patents may apply: 5,708,023, 5,965,610, 6,037,386, 5,985,918, 7,435,429 and patents pending. Property of Columbia University.
Why are there concerns about traditional alcohol-based sanitizers?
There are a number of reasons there are growing concerns about alcohol-based sanitizers. These are just a few:
(1) Toxicity is a concern. According to a 2007 report published by the American Association of Poison Control Centers, there were approximately 12,000 incidents of toxic alcohol poisoning directly attributed to alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Alcohol-based sanitizers can contain 60% or more alcohol by volume.
Alcohol-based sanitizers are safe, but they must be used responsibly. Children are especially at risk which is why alcohol-based sanitizers are under the control or a nurse or teacher.
(2) Infection is a concern. Traditional alcohol-based hand sanitizer products can increase the risk of infection especially when applied to open cuts. May people believe that sanitizing a cut or sore with alcohol disinfects. It does. However, they can leave you prone to infection.
(3) Flammability is also a concern with traditional alcohol-based sanitizers. Fire Marshalls across America are well aware that alcohol gel sprays are flammable. There are many ways in which children and others are repurposing alcohol hand sanitizers. It’s no wonder that the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other government agencies all require warnings for traditional alcohol-based sanitizers.
Is Zytrel XP safe to use multiple times per day?
Yes. Solution hand sanitizers and soap are designed to be used several times per day. Frequent application of the ZYTREL XP Sanitizer & Moisturizing Lotion makes hands feel supple and soft. Many people comment that frequent application makes their skin feel noticeably better than before they began using Zytrel XP. Of course, frequent hand-washing with ZYTREL XP Foaming Hand Cleanser also helps to keep hands clean, helping to prevent the spread of disease through cross contamination.
Why is it important to protect yourself against cross contamination?
Cross contamination is the act of spreading infection from one surface to another. Most often it occurs when a person touches an object or another person and then transfers bacteria to himself or to another person or object. Since most cross contaminations occurs when your hands touch the infected area, keeping your hands germ free is the best protection against infection
Does ZYTREL XP moisturize the skin?
Yes. The ZYTREL XP formula in our Sanitizer & Moisturizing Lotion combines patented essential oil and emollient systems that are synergistic with antimicrobials and preservatives, enhancing antimicrobial efficacy while adding moisture to the skin.
ZYTREL XP also helps skin retain skin moisture and reduce trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) allowing the skin to heal faster.
Alcohol removes the natural oils on your skin on contact. Attempting to replace natural oils with synthetic additives is not as effective as never removing these precious natural moisturizers in the first place. ZYTREL XP does not remove the natural lubrication and oils from the skin, but instead complements the skin’s moisture with additional emollients which further retain moisture. The end result is that your skin will feels soft and healthy without sticky and tacky synthetic additives.
Can I use ZYTREL XP Foaming Hand Cleanser on children safely?
Yes, it is safe to use all Zytrel XP products on adults and children. Of course, caution must always be used with any product when applying it on young children. Never apply any product on young children that may cause any discomfort, and if you sense any negative reaction, stop using the product immediately.
Will ZYTREL XP alcohol-based products sting in wounds?
ZYTREL XP dramatically reduces stinging when compared to traditional alcohol-based sanitizers, even when applied to chaffed/cracked hands, cuts, scrapes or abrasions.
Will Zytrel XP inhibit the growth of "good bacteria?”
Just like there is good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, there is also good and bad bacteria. You don’t want to inhibit the growth of good bacteria because it helps your immune system fight disease. Traditional alcohol-based sanitizers inhibit thegrowth of good bacteria and that may make you more susceptible to germs. Zytrel XP kills 99.99% of bad bacteria on contact, but it doe not inhibit the growth of good bacteria, also called flora.
How should I apply Zytrel XP products?
ZYTREL XP Sanitizer & Moisturizing Lotion and Zytrel Hand Sanitizer should be applied topically to the skin, as often as they are needed. Zytrel XP Foaming Cleanser, an antimicrobial soap, should be used with water. You can apply the Lotion and the Foaming Cleanser as often as is necessary and your hands can be washed with soap and water in between applications because even after 3 washings, Zytrel XP is still effective against germs. When it comes to washing your hands with soap and water, or using one of our technology based products, it is best to follow the old adage, “It is better to be safe than sorry.”
Does Zytrel XP kill any viruses?
FDA does not allow any hand sanitizer on the market to make such a claim.
